Sourced by Marc Darroze, one of the very top names among Armagnac producers. Traditional continuous distillation in Armagnac stills ensures preservation of the traditional Armagnac aromas, however requires a longer barrel ageing period to bring out the complex and elegant bouquet.
The XO is aged for at least 8 years in casks made from french oak from the local forests of Gascony and Limousin. The Bas-Armagnac vineyards are situated in the west heartland of Gascony, on fawn coloured sandy alluvial soils that produce a delicate and fruity Armagnac.
