The Antinori family released their first wine under the Santa Cristina name in 1946. Since then Santa Cristina has been a byword for quality and value in Tuscany, now more so than ever since the creation of a dedicated winery in 2006. The range now consists of reds and rose’s from Tuscany and whites from Umbria, so the winery’s location in Cortona, southern Tuscany, is ideal.
Chianti Superiore is a relatively new DOCG that allows a high-quality wine to be sourced from several regions within the Chianti zone.
The Santa Cristina is a blend of various parcels, each picked at different times according to optimum ripeness, with the Sangiovese coming in later than the Merlot.
