The Meireles family were vineyard owners in the small town of Lixa, who in 1986 set up a winery producing Vinho Verde. Six years later, they were able to buy the ten-hectare Quinta da Lixa vineyard, which now gives the company its name, and in 1994 invested in a new, larger winery.

The family now own vines in six di2erent Quintas, with forty-two hectares in total.

The grapes are harvested from twenty-year-old vines.
